About Shelly

  • I went to Newman University and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and masters of science and masters of art in chemistry.
  • I continued my graduate studies at Baylor College of Medicine, where I did two semesters of coursework before returning to Kansas and earning a master’s in biology from Wichita State University.
  • I started out at the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center as an entry level DNA analyst.
  • I spent most of my career analyzing evidence for biological materials, creating DNA profiles, and testifying in court.
  • I’ve since moved up and now work as the director of the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center.
  • In addition to my role as director of the Forensic Science Center, I also serve as the mayor of Mulvane, Kansas.
