Life & Career Milestones

I've taken a lot of twists and turns

  • 1.

I was born in Toronto, Canada, and grew up in both Toronto and Hong Kong, China.

  • 2.

I moved to the U.S. for college and attended the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied finance and European history.

  • 3.

After graduating, I started my career in strategy consulting for Fortune 500 companies.

  • 4.

After a few years of strategy consulting, I started to really miss doing finance, so I jumped at the opportunity to work in private equity in Hong Kong.

  • 5.

I learned a lot and gained a lot of experience working in Asia before deciding to return to the U.S. to go to graduate school for my MBA.

  • 6.

I wanted to work in a fast-growing industry where I’d continue to learn a lot, so I decided to move to the Bay Area in California and work in technology investing.

  • 7.

Over time, I realized that I wanted to do something more impactful, so I joined the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which combined my passion for education with my experience in technology investing.

  • 8.

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative started in education, but over the last few years, we’ve also started to explore what we can do from an impact investing perspective in climate and science.
