How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Anyone can teach; you're too smart to waste your time teaching. Did your first major not work out and that's why you chose to teach?
How I responded:
I am able to work through the noise because I have many friends who chose careers based on money and not heart. They may live in a bigger house and have more "stuff" but I absolutely love what I do. My days are filled with students whom I get to listen to, work through issues with, and help guide down a fitting path for their needs and dreams. Education is not always a respected field, but we get to feel true reward through the successes of and overcoming of failures our students experience.
