My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Got a job running a farmer's booth at a local market.

Freelanced for nonprofits that the farmer connected me with (but working full time in another field)
3.
Did a year of service with FoodCorps and realized I love teaching
4.
Followed local orgs and searched for jobs relentlessly
5.
Applied for a teaching position with the Wylde Center
6.
Got promoted and manage part of the program now!

"You won't make any money teaching," "How can you teach Farm to School if you don't have a science background?"
How I responded:
I did a job that paid more and had a lot of opportunity to make a lot of money and hated every second of it. Loving my job became the most important thing. I also learned on the job and was always honest about my abilities, which meant I was never hired for a job that I wasn't able to do. Because I was strong in other areas and over all a dependable team member, I was given lots of opportunities to learn more about my field.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I would not have been able to go to college without a scholarship, and I lived very, very, simply and saved money so that I could afford to do the job I loved.
I was born with one arm, which is distracting for kids, but I'm open and honest with them and let them ask as many questions as the want and now it is a non-issue. I actually think it shows them that they can do anything and motivates them more.
