My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
After I graduated from college in 2005, I joined a recruiting firm and did well for a few years.
2.
When the economy crashed in 2008, the tech and recruiting markets were absolutely crushed.
3.
I knew if I just stuck with my job and rode it out, the tides would come back in.
4.
Sure enough, 2010 ended up being one of the best years for me, performance-wise.
5.
Since then, I've been given Lucas Group's top award for the past two years in a row.

How I responded:
It's easy to get discouraged by the competitiveness of recruiting and the compensation plans that go along with that. But while some people see it as a lack of stability, there's really no big risk. I actually use our commission scheme to motivate me.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I have a lot of people who think it's crazy that I became so successful with that in my past. But I consider myself pretty lucky; I think that's just something that happened to me, but not something that actually defines me and my ambitions.
