Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Teachers:

You are bright and you have ability, but you don't apply yourself.

  • How I responded:

"You don't apply yourself" is a statement. If your teacher tells you that, ask them to help you answer why you don't apply yourself. Find out what the problem is and then work on a solution.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • At university, I got into a whole heap of debt with loans and credit cards. I tried to hide the debt and pretend it wasn't there, but talk to your parents. They're there to help you overcome real-life issues. Otherwise, spend responsibly!
